With VoIP becoming an increasingly popular choice for companies in the world, so many consumers have not yet decided to switch. This is mainly because they're satisfied with the current service and are either not aware of VoIP, or do not know how they will benefit. Advantages of VoIP
For the consumer, the most obvious advantage of VoIP is cost. It is simply cheaper to make calls to local numbers, as the VoIP service ensures that your data travels over the Internet for as long as possible, if it is free. The price difference is astounding - Overseas calls VoIP are orders of magnitude cheaper than those of regular telephone systems.
Companies are really the ones who benefit from all advanced features of VoIP is more than the benefit from price reductions. Disadvantages of VoIP
For the home user, there are some important shortcomings of VoIP as it is now. The first is that it is entirely dependent on your internet connection, which is then connected to the services, such as your electricity. If it goes down, your phone line dies as well. With regular phones, power comes from the telephone company, engaged in a little redundancy in case of emergency.
Another drawback is that there is no automatic 911 emergency facility. There are services such as E911, which the parties have to decide that, but since this is not automatic, there is concern that this would be a safety issue.
Companies usually do not need 911 service and they almost always have their own systems of power to run., So that these restrictions do not apply to them.
